Objective

CornerJob’s objective was to become a market leader in the blue-collar job segment.

Outcomes

The company used a bridge venture round between Series A and Series B, three media venture rounds post Series B, and a final media round of the Series C stage.

A $5mn media investment agreement investment specifically aimed at growing the platform in Mexico. CornerJob already had media-for-equity deals covering its three European markets — Spain, France, and Italy — so the company used the same strategy in expanding globally.

Media-for-equity was a factor when choosing the next market to expand to. The company decided on Germany as the following country to expand to; RTL Ventures was a strategic media investment for the expansion.

CornerJob was acquired in 2019 by Spanish human resources firm Eurofirms, as part of Eurofirms’ constant investment in technology to place itself at the cutting edge of innovation. It also increased its domestic and international presence in Italy and France. It started providing its customers with an even more comprehensive service, offering solutions for temporary employment, outsourcing, custom projects on the customer’s premises, outplacement, and the integration of people with disabilities, which the Eurofirms Foundation carries out.

CornerJob reached a market-leader status in France and Italy shortly after its media investments growth strategy.
“I recommend founders to test and see if and what media type works for their company. After you have tested online, print, TV, or other media, you can decide where to spend your marketing budget. Ask yourself if you would increase your investments. If yes, how do you finance that investment - this is a moment where you can evaluate the media-for-equity model.”
